Meet Alex. He's good at soccer, awful at basketball, and most definitely not looking forward to helping in his crazy Aunt Cindy's laboratory. But this afternoon, a visit from a mysterious stranger will send Alex and his aunt on a time travel adventure through the history of scientific discovery. Join them as they discover the law of falling bodies with Galileo, shatter a beam of light with Isaac Newton, and plumb the depths of an atom with Marie Curie. Grab hold of the time machine and see why even a little step forward in science can be a breakthrough, making what seemed impossible...possible. Here is a sneak peek at the script for Breakthrough!: PROFESSOR Come on, just a little trip! Thirty seconds into the…into the…past. ALEX I’m going to…hold on. Do you feel like we’ve done this before? PROFESSOR Yes, as a matter of fact I…I do. I do! I did it! It works! We’ve created a temporal loop! ALEX You mean…we traveled through time? PROFESSOR Yes! Thirty seconds into the past! Several times by the look of it! This is astounding! ALEX No, it’s just…what do they call it…déjà vu. Time travel is impossible! PROFESSOR I told you, impossible is nothing! Never let impossible stand in your way! Did impossible stop the Wright brothers from flying? No! Did impossible stop NASA from landing on the moon? No! Did impossible stop Armand-Hippolyte-Louis Fizeau from measuring the velocity of a projected beam of light passing through a rotating cogwheel? ALEX I’m going to say…no? PROFESSOR No! The impossible is simply that which hasn’t been proven to be possible yet. ALEX Then prove to me that this isn’t impossible. Let’s go farther back- let’s take this thing off the chain and see what it can do. Breakthrough! was written by Shaun Wainwright-Branigan. |
